Sea and Sky

this was a very quick experiment painting of
sea and sky.
i love the simplicity. its' focus is color and light.
i will be doing a very large one similar to this when i get a chance.
i lacquered only the water for a reflective quality and contrast to the sky.

Red Red Roses

one can't really appreciate the striking beauty of
this one in a picture.
the roses have a LOT of texture themselves
and it is lacquered with several layers so the painting is very
GLOSSY
the red really stands out b/c of the blue surrounding it.
reds and blues are opposites on the color wheel which
means that they literally stand out most when side by side.

inspired by pillow design

this was done from looking at a design on a pillow
from Anthropologie.
I would LOVE to do more paintings like this so
find a pattern/design in ANYTHING.....dress, curtains, chair fabric.....
and I can create a painting from it.
GET CREATIVE.

2 PEARS in a Bowl

these "spooning pears" are almost sensual.
i love the way the lighting grazes their curves
and the shadows keep the rest of their mysterious figure
just out of your eyes reach.
the look i went for here is a mixture between a black and white photo
and a sepia photo translated into a painting.

a self-portrait for art class

This was for an adult art class at
Pacific Northwest College of Art
(which is the ONLY art class Ive ever taken:)
it is supposed to be CUBISM
that is why it looks crazy
not even sure if I accomplished that but it was fun!
